The best finish for your gates and railings is first have the item galvanised and then powder coated, please see photo of gates that have

been galvanised, you can have them any colour but I think satin black is the most practical, if you go for gloss they will turn matt with age

anyway. There is a vast range of railing heads to choose from but my most popular type are in these photo's.
